Make It Scream
If you are a fan of the metal genre in music you might have noticed the unique riff of the guitars and the effects that the musicians are using. For some bands the guitars may sound like screaming high pitched notes in a lead solo or together with the lead vocals. The stanzas may usually come in without any effects or with a thick distorted sound to add the complete metal musical experience. There are guitar effects and or gadgets that can help achieve this type of desired musical high. These gadgets fall under the distortion category which branch out to other sub categories or kinds. By the name itself, the distortion gadgets somehow distort the electric guitars sound to add the heaviness or thickness of the guitar's sound to achieve a "heavy" effect. DISTORTION
The distortion is a mechanical gadget in pedal form connected to the electric guitar and the amplifier. This gadget takes the sound of the guitar and clips it to the gadget producing distorted sound, tampering and renewing the state of its waveform. This gadget has the thickest and heaviest sound of the other listed gadgets. The gadget however can be tuned in such a way that an equalized distorted sound may be achieved.NUX Vintage Overdrive
OVERDRIVE
The overdrive is similar to the distortion in a sense that it also involves the clipping of the waveform to its distorted state of sound; however, this gadget produces a cleaner outcome than the distortion. It slightly adds an edge to the music and a fuzzy sound more tolerable than the distortion.
FUZZ
The fuzz is a gadget which intends to recreate the sound of the classic 1960s guitar. The signal from this type of gadget produces a waveform rich in harmonics. The effects mentioned above are the main gadgets that are capable of producing distorted sounds and are the basic gadgets that the average and professional guitarist may consider using in heavy genres or even the slow genres to add thickness and feel of the music. Other gadgets with similar capacities are improved versions of the above type. The gadgets may have other names due to their combined capacities but the effects may just slightly vary due to their improved version.
